Software development outsourcing, driven by specs and built with AI.

Bring us a product, a feature or a legacy system. We turn it into a precise specification you approve, then our engineers build it with AI coding agents — every change reviewed, tested against the spec and delivered at a fixed price.

Building
  1. Requirements and acceptance criteria

    spec.approve()

  2. Architecture and technical plan

    plan.review()

  3. AI agents implement, engineers review

    pr.review()

  4. Every acceptance criterion tested

    spec.verify()

What is spec-driven outsourcing

You own the what. We own the how.

With outsourcing, you hand over an agreed outcome and we take responsibility for delivering it — team, process and quality included. Spec-driven development makes that outcome concrete: before any code is written, we write a detailed specification with you, covering user flows, business rules, edge cases and acceptance criteria. AI coding agents then implement from that spec, while our engineers review, test and refine every change.

You

Define and approve

  • Share the goal, the users and the constraints
  • Review and approve the specification
  • Accept each milestone against its criteria
  • Reprioritize between milestones

Dataforge

Deliver end to end

  • Business analysis and specification writing
  • Architecture, design and implementation
  • Code review, testing and security checks
  • Deployment, documentation and support

How it works

From idea to production in four spec-driven steps

  1. Specify

We interview your team and write the spec: what the software must do, for whom, and how we'll know it works. You approve it before we build.

  2. Plan

Engineers turn the spec into an architecture, a data model and small, testable tasks, each linked to the requirement it fulfils.

  3. Build

AI coding agents implement the tasks under our engineers' direction. Every change goes through human code review — nothing ships unreviewed.

  4. Verify and deliver

Automated tests check every acceptance criterion. We deploy, hand over code and documentation, and keep the spec current as the product grows.

Benefits

Why build from a spec, with AI

  • Clarity

    No surprises in the result

You see and approve exactly what will be built before development starts, so the product matches what you expected.

  • Speed

    Shorter delivery cycles

AI agents take on the repetitive implementation work, so engineers spend their time on architecture, edge cases and review.

  • Predictable cost

    Fixed price per milestone

A precise spec makes scope measurable, so we price each milestone upfront instead of billing open-ended hours.

  • Quality

    Tested against the spec

Acceptance criteria become automated tests, so every requirement is verified rather than assumed.

  • Ownership

    Your code, your IP

You receive the full source code, the specification and the documentation. No lock-in to us or to any AI tool.

  • Maintainability

    Documentation that stays current

The spec is living documentation: requirements change in the spec first, then in the code, so new developers get up to speed fast.

What we build

Outsourced development for your whole product

  • Web

    Web applications and SaaS

Customer portals, internal tools, dashboards and SaaS products, from first MVP to scale.

  • Mobile

    Mobile apps

iOS and Android apps built with Flutter or React Native, connected to your backend.

  • Backend

    APIs and integrations

REST and GraphQL APIs, payment and CRM integrations, and data pipelines.

  • AI

    AI features in your product

Assistants, document processing, smart search and agents built into the software your customers use.

  • Modernization

    Legacy system modernization

We capture how your current system behaves as a spec, then rebuild it on a modern stack without losing business rules.

  • Support

    Maintenance and evolution

Fixes, upgrades and new features for software already in production — including systems built by others.

Myths

Common worries about outsourcing and AI

  1. “We'll lose control”

You approve the spec and accept every milestone. Progress, code and decisions stay visible to you throughout.

  2. “AI code is low quality”

AI writes the first draft; engineers review, test and take responsibility for every change. The spec and tests set the bar, not the tool.

  3. “It's only for big companies”

A spec-driven project can start small — one feature or an MVP — at a fixed price you can plan around.

  4. “Our code won't be safe”

We sign an NDA, can work directly in your repositories and agree upfront which AI tools may access your code.

FAQ

Questions about spec-driven outsourcing

What is spec-driven development?

A way of building software where a detailed specification — requirements, business rules and acceptance criteria — is written and approved before coding starts. The spec then guides implementation and testing, and remains the project's source of truth.

How do you use AI, and who is responsible for the code?

AI coding agents write much of the implementation from the spec, directed by our engineers. Engineers review, test and approve every change, and Dataforge is responsible for the delivered result.

What's the difference between outsourcing and outstaffing?

With outsourcing, we deliver an agreed result and manage the team ourselves. With outstaffing, our developers join your team and you manage them day to day.

How do you price a project?

Once the spec is approved, the scope is measurable, so we quote a fixed price per milestone. We agree how the specification phase is priced before it starts.

What if our requirements change mid-project?

We update the spec first, agree the impact on time and price with you, then implement. Changes are always visible and never slip in unannounced.

Do we own the code?

Yes. You receive the source code, specification, tests and documentation, and the intellectual property is transferred to you under the contract.

Can you take over an existing project?

Yes. We start by documenting how the current system behaves as a spec, then fix, extend or modernize it from there.
